Bacteria are extremely good at thriving even in the extreme climates under different chemical and environmental strains. Bacteria can’t be killed easily. Heating them under extremely high temperatures or bleaching them can kill off bacteria. But we cannot do the same for humans since it would kill them off too.
WAYS OF KILLING BACTERIA
Bacteria are extremely difficult to kill but they are ways through which bacterial growth can be controlled. Some of them are-
- Boiling Water: Boiling water before consumption is necessary since it kills off bacteria.
- Structured Silver: It can eliminate bacteria on and in the body. Using structured silver can eliminate the drug resistant strains without harming the good probiotic bacteria. Antibiotics might have side effects but structured silver disinfects the body completely.
- Chlorination: Adding chlorine to water can kill various species of bacteria. Chlorine is used in public water sources and in treatment of sewage. However, there are various consequences and safety issues that come with the use of chlorine.
- Hydrogen peroxide: with a dilution below 10%, hydrogen peroxide is used as a surface wound disinfectant.
- Prescription drugs: Antibiotics are the drugs that are widely used to kill off bacteria in human body. The most widely used antibiotics are vancomycin, methicillin and penicillin. It is extremely important to complete the full prescription of antibiotics.
Modern medicine came with the boon of antibiotics. Alexander Fleming received a Nobel Prize for his discovery. With antibiotics, some of the deadliest diseases could be beaten. It also made chemotherapy, surgery and transplants possible. Antibiotics work by stunting the growth of bacteria by putting an end to the key roles in bacterial cells that are responsible for growth and reproduction.
Whenever people don’t follow up the full course of medicine of antibiotics, they get into trouble. They leave medicine course because they think that they are well again but by doing so, they give bacteria a chance to undergo mutation and render the antibiotics useless.
A bacterium follows up a lot of survival techniques and mechanisms like altering the proteins in order to gain resistance against antibiotics. The antibiotics fail to bind to bacteria after alterations. The population of mutated bacteria spreads quickly and can thrive even in the antibiotic conditions. This continues and the need for another antibiotics emerges.
Thus, there is a need for the proper medication to be followed for successfully beating bacteria.
